Switched on style
Companies join up to launch personalised lampshades
Two West Midlands companies joined forces to create a brilliant new product - personalised lampshades – and visitors to the recent Autumn Fair at the NEC really took a shine to this bright idea.
Promotional products specialist Scotprint, from Oswestry, teamed up with Wombourne’s Sampson Lampshades to create innovative embroidered shades, perfect as a gift to treasure or ideal for delivering a design statement in restaurants and hotels.
The shades are offered in a variety of styles and colours, with the customer’s chosen name embroidered directly onto the fabric in either block or script lettering. There is even an option to add one of six different motifs – from a flower to footprints, a teddy or a train – which would make the perfect finishing touch to a nursery or child’s room.
Hilary Richardson, managing director of Scotprint said: “We are always looking for new ideas, and our recent investment in a new embroidery machine offered ever more opportunities to personalise different items.
“We found the perfect partner company in Sampson Lampshades. They saw the potential of these new products and together we are getting lots of interest from mail order, independent nursery retailers and catering outlets.”
Sampson Lampshades proprietor Gaye Sampson added: “It is really important for small independent businesses like ours to offer something that can’t be found on the High Street.
“We believe we are the only people currently offering embroidered lampshades like this, where the customer can create their own bespoke style as a gift or to enhance and emphasise their business brand.”
Sampson Lampshades is a family business established in 1962, and now specialising in handmade fabric lampshades – www.sampson-lampshades.co.uk
Prices start from as little as £27.95 for a 6 inch drum shade and the products are available mail order from 01902 892157.
